Stacey has been growing vegetables and fruits in Needville, and they look and taste great. She can be found at different farmers markets and is still active with Houston/Sugar Land area co-ops.

We started with a couple of raised beds and some dirt we bought from town. We now have 14 acres available to grow on, and are growing on roughly 2.5 acres of it. We work every day of the week, and this has become a family’s passion.

Stacey relies on her growing number of involved mentors: Urban Harvest,  Fr. Bernard Mahoney, Central City Co-op, Bryan, Christy Lewis, Mr. Tom (her dad), Joe/Andrea/Monica from Tafia', Cathy from Damon, Farmer Gus, Mr. Jimmy Gray, Mr. Kulow, Mr. Herman, old Czech men who think it’s crazy to see a woman farmer work the field all day (and never shy from offering advice), TOFGA, Slow Food People, Chicken Tractor People, Ft. Bend Beekeepers, Master-gardeners, Permaculturalist, our buddies at the Feed Store(s), our buddies at the hardware store(s), and just a boat load of people who enjoy what we grow.

I think the whole town of Needville deserves credit for the fact that we still haven't died on that little piece of land. Needville is the friendliest place on earth. Our neighbors have helped us get trenchers out of mud, borrow large tractors when our small one wasn't up for the job, and even use the bathroom (more than just a tiny detail).
